Peter 2:2-10 June 10, 2020

Pere 2:2-10 Stone

This is a great passage that contains these beautiful words to God's people in verse 9: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Lord's own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him and called you out of the darkness into his marvelous light."

But leading up to that soaring affirmation is the writer repeatedly using the image of a stone for both Jesus and for those who follow him.

His is a living stone, chosen and precious in God's sight; a stone laid in Zion; a cornerstone chosen and precious; the stone that the builders rejected has become the bend of the corner; a stone that makes them stumble.

We are called to come to Christ as living stones to offer ourselves to the Lord to build God's spiritual house.

So Lord, today I offer myself as a living stone for your purpose. Use me as you see fit in the building of your spiritual house. That is the church universal. Count me, O God, among your royal priesthood, your chosen race, your holy nation, one of your own people.
