Acts 2:22-32 May 4, 2020

Acts 2:22-32 Raised

Text is the content of Peter's message to the crowds gathered in Jerusulem for Pentecost. Happened after the Holy Spirit came with power on the disciples gathered in the upper room.

What catches my attention about the text is the way Peter's message is bracketed by his use of the word raised in verse 24 and verse 32. In both cases, it was God who raised Jesus from the dead, who powered the resurrection, who brought about the defining event that means sin, death, evil do not have the final word.

With the celebration of the of the empty tomb just a few days behind, it seems timely to reflect on the meaning for me that God raised Jesus from the dead.

The resurrection was not only an historical event, but one that has personal defining significance for me and for every Christ follower.

The fact that Jesus was raised means that evil, sin, and death is not the last word in my life. God's power displayed in the risen Christ is the final word on which I trust and hope and find my joy.
