Acts 17:22-31 June 19, 2020

Pastor Bruce Hedgepeth

Acts 17:22-31 Unknown

These verses are part of the account of Paul's time in Athens., after being chased out of Beroca during the second missionary journey.

Passage is about Paul speaking before the Aeropagus. He connected what he had observed about Athenians-they must be very religious because the city was filled with statues of many different Gods, including one to an unknown god.

Paul used what was unknown to them and tried to make known the truth about the one true God, the maker of heaven and earth and all the peoples. This God, previously unknown to the Athenians, is the one who raised Jesus from death to life and appointed him the judge of the nations.

Not sure that I would say that people of our culture today are religious, like the Athenians, but I would say that as a Christ follower I have the challenge of proclaiming in my words and thoughts and actions the truth about God in Jesus that is mostly unknown or misunderstood by many today.

Lord, help me make what is unknown about Jesus known to others.
